Research Associate Job Description
Work Location: Middlesex County, Massachusetts
Summary:
Seeking a Research Associate to provide hands-on support for preclinical research activities, focusing on both LNP and antibody-oligonucleotide conjugate platforms. This role involves supporting in vivo studies, processing biological samples, and contributing to bioanalytical assay execution and method development.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with in vivo studies, including preparation for sample collection, tissue dissection, weighing, and organized storage of samples for analysis.
- Manage biological samples throughout their lifecycle, including maintaining freezer logs, updating sample manifests, and coordinating sample transfers between teams.
- Process biological samples by performing tissue disruption, homogenization, and extraction of nucleic acids and proteins from various tissues and plasma.
- Prepare samples for downstream bioanalytical assays such as qPCR/RT-qPCR, ELISA, MSD, and LC-MS/MS, ensuring proper chain of custody and sample integrity.
- Execute routine bioanalytical assays under supervision, with opportunities to develop skills for independent assay execution and method development.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of sample workflows and experimental data using electronic lab notebooks to ensure data integrity and traceability.
- Organize and prepare data, clearly communicating results to relevant stakeholders.
- Support cross-functional collaboration by facilitating sample handoffs and maintaining clear documentation throughout the research process.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in biomedical sciences, molecular biology, biochemistry, analytical chemistry, or a related field.
- 0–1 years of relevant laboratory experience.
- Willingness to learn rodent and non-human primate tissue handling, dissection, and necropsy support.
- General wet-lab experience, including handling biological samples such as plasma, tissues, or cells.
- Familiarity with bioanalytical techniques (qPCR, ELISA, MSD, LC-MS/MS) is a plus but not required.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and documentation practices, especially regarding sample tracking and accurate recording of data.
- Ability to maintain sample manifests and ensure accurate recording of tissue weights.
- Commitment to core values such as respect, integrity, excellence, and impact.
