Accounting Consultant

Summary:
Seeking an experienced Accounting Consultant with a strong background in controllership and inventory accounting within large organizations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (F&O), and a proven ability to lead account cleanup, improve close processes, and implement best practices in accounting and inventory management.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and guide the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy in journal entries, accruals, allocations, and adjustments.
- Lead initiatives to identify and resolve account discrepancies, implementing sustainable corrective actions for account cleanup.
- Develop and maintain process planning calendars to coordinate close activities and ensure timely completion across teams.
- Perform and review complex balance sheet reconciliations, addressing variances with urgency and precision.
- Establish and enforce best practices for internal controls and accounting policies in line with large enterprise standards.
- Collaborate with finance leadership and cross-functional teams to streamline workflows and enhance reporting accuracy.
- Document accounting processes and procedures to support audit readiness, compliance, and organizational continuity.
- Utilize Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O to manage inventory accounting, validate transactions, and provide financial insights for decision-making.
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including direct experience as a Controller or in a senior controllership role at a large organization.
- Comprehensive knowledge of controllership functions: financial close, internal controls, policy governance, audit coordination, and multi-entity oversight.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (F&O) for both accounting and inventory management.
- Extensive background in managing inventory accounting, including cost accounting, inventory valuation methods, sub-ledger reconciliation, and period-end close within D365 F&O.
- Ability to configure, navigate, and troubleshoot Dynamics 365 F&O modules related to inventory, projects, and accounting.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting standards, and internal control frameworks in large enterprise environments.
- Proven track record of managing tight month-end close timelines and coordinating across finance, operations, and leadership teams.
- Experience leading account cleanup and remediation in complex, high-volume accounting settings.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to present findings to executive stakeholders.
- CPA designation strongly preferred.
- Experience in consulting or contract roles supporting large-scale accounting transformation or cleanup projects.
- Familiarity with advanced D365 F&O configurations, including inventory costing profiles, warehouse management integration, and landed cost modules.
- Experience with multi-site or multi-entity inventory management in D365 F&O.
- Strong communication skills for translating complex accounting and inventory issues into actionable recommendations for finance leadership.
