Summary:
The Metals Post Processing Technician is responsible for the production and post-processing of medical devices, utilizing a variety of tools and equipment to ensure quality and compliance with industry standards.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct production activities including equipment setup, line clearance, processing, labeling, and record completion in accordance with quality and regulatory guidelines.
- Perform secondary processes such as deburring, mirror polishing, media blasting, filing, cleaning, and packaging of medical device components.
- Support maintenance activities for equipment and assist with troubleshooting as needed.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing processes and efficiency.
- Inspect components and products at various stages of the manufacturing process to ensure quality standards are met.
- Maintain compliance with safety regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Documentation Practices (GDP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and 21 CFR 820.
- Utilize a range of hand tools, rotary tools, media blasting cabinets, cleaning and inspection equipment, and packaging equipment as required.
- Work in both standard machine shop and clean room environments, adhering to all required personal protective equipment (PPE) protocols.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or post-secondary education preferred.
- Experience using rotary tools, die grinders, and basic machine shop tools and equipment is required.
- Mechanically inclined with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of GMP, GLP, GDP, and experience with FDA 21 CFR 820 quality systems preferred.
- Ability to intermittently lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform extended periods of standing, squatting, kneeling, and ladder work.
- Comfortable handling or being exposed to metallic powders, mill coolant, tapping fluid, polymeric resins, cleaning solutions, inert gases, and acids.
- Ability to work in environments with noise, dust, temperature extremes, and clean room conditions requiring PPE such as gowns, hair nets, shoe covers, and nitrile gloves.
- Familiarity with safety protocols and use of respirators, protective clothing, eye protection, and hearing protection as needed.
