Sr. Director of Information Technology

Summary:
Seeking a strategic and hands-on leader to oversee all aspects of technology infrastructure, including cloud, network, security, compliance, and end-user computing in a regulated environment. This role is responsible for both setting IT strategy and executing critical tasks, ensuring robust, compliant, and scalable systems to support business and laboratory operations.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, implementation, and management of AWS cloud infrastructure, ensuring best practices in architecture, security, and automation.
- Develop and maintain secure, reliable network architecture for both corporate and laboratory environments, including VPNs, VLANs, and firewalls.
- Oversee identity and access management systems, including SSO, directory synchronization, and integration across platforms, with responsibility for potential IdP migrations.
- Manage end-user computing environments across Mac and Windows devices, including MDM, provisioning, patching, and lifecycle management.
- Ensure consistency, reliability, and compliance of lab workstation management, collaborating with lab and quality teams for validation and documentation.
- Direct the cybersecurity program, including endpoint protection, vulnerability management, backup/disaster recovery, and security awareness training.
- Administer productivity tools and platforms, optimizing licensing, configuration, integrations, and automation to drive efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Manage relationships with external IT service providers, defining scope, monitoring performance, and making strategic decisions on in-house versus outsourced work.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in IT and infrastructure roles, including leadership responsibilities and hands-on technical work.
- Background in Biotech, Pharma, or regulated industries with knowledge of GMP, GLP, or GCP requirements, including change control and documentation.
- Expertise in managing AWS production environments, including Control Tower, multi-account architectures, IAM, and Terraform.
- Strong network engineering skills, with experience designing and troubleshooting segmented networks, VPNs, firewalls, and redundant connectivity.
- Proven ability to manage mixed Mac and Windows device fleets using modern MDM solutions; deep hands-on Windows expertise required.
- Experience with SSO and identity infrastructure, including IdP migrations and directory integrations.
- Comprehensive understanding of corporate security tools and practices, with experience responding to security audits and questionnaires.
- Demonstrated success managing external IT service providers, including defining scope, monitoring SLAs, and transitioning services.
- Leadership style that combines strategic vision with hands-on execution; ability to coach and manage direct reports.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent experience considered. Relevant certifications (AWS, networking, security) are a plus.
