Job Title: Oncology Research Nurse

Work Location: Fulton County, GA

Summary:

The Oncology Research Nurse provides specialized nursing care and research coordination for patients enrolled in oncology clinical trials. This role combines clinical expertise with research protocol management, ensuring high-quality patient care and regulatory compliance throughout the research process.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate patient registration, data collection, and submission for oncology research protocols, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Monitor and report adverse events, maintain patient follow-up, and manage research records in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Oversee protocol regulatory management and quality assurance activities related to clinical research studies.
  • Serve as a practitioner, educator, researcher, and consultant within the research team, supporting patient care and study objectives.
  • Utilize disease management nursing skills, physical assessment abilities, and data management expertise to support research initiatives.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams to facilitate understanding of research protocols and care plans.
  • Ensure compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and applicable federal regulations governing clinical research.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development, including obtaining required certifications within specified timeframes.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a Bachelor or Associate degree.
  • Current and unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Georgia.
  • One (1) year relevant work experience in a clinical setting.
  • Current and valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider CPR & AED Program card.
  • If not Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC) or Certified Clinical Research Professional (CCRP) at time of hire, must achieve professional certification through the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) or the Society of Clinical Research Associates (SOCRA) within three (3) years of hire.
  • If not certified at time of hire, must obtain within three (3) years of hire, one (1) of the following: Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) through the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) or Blood & Marrow Transplant Certified Nurse (BMTCN) through ONCC.
  • Master of Science degree from an accredited college or university in a data-driven research-related field (such as nursing, allied health, biological sciences, chemistry, economics, informatics, mathematics, psychology, sociology, epidemiology, public health) preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of clinical research healthcare science, Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards, and clinical research regulations preferred.
  • One (1) to three (3) years relevant work experience in a clinical or healthcare setting preferred.
  • Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC) or Certified Clinical Research Professional (CCRP) through ACRP or SOCRA preferred.
  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) through ONCC preferred.
