Buyer

Summary:
The Buyer is responsible for supporting procurement activities, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring timely delivery of materials and supplies. This role involves coordinating with various departments, maintaining accurate records, and contributing to cost-saving initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee procurement and delivery of raw materials, packaging, and supplies for manufacturing operations, ensuring timely and accurate fulfillment.
- Negotiate and resolve daily procurement issues, including urgent shipments, service delays, invoicing discrepancies, and quality concerns.
- Collaborate with production teams to plan and manage inventory control parameters for assigned products.
- Maintain and update pricing information within the ERP system, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
- Support quality assurance efforts by assisting with vendor evaluations, documentation updates, and compliance with relevant standards.
- Manage procurement of resources for administrative, sales, marketing, and packaging needs, including coordination of artwork and design materials.
- Initiate and amend purchase orders as needed, and coordinate plant trials for new or revised materials with manufacturing facilities.
- Track and document fixed asset purchases, monitor project budgets, and collaborate with accounting to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience (minimum 3 years purchasing experience).
- Demonstrated experience in purchasing department activities and vendor management.
- Experience in chemical purchasing or a related field is preferred.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks and Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business information from various sources such as reports and journals.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in French is valued.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and effectively present information to managers, vendors, and colleagues.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with a focus on continuous improvement and cost savings.
