Job Title: Research Scientist, Chromatography
Work Location: Middlesex County, Massachusetts
Summary:
Seeking an experienced scientist to lead and coordinate chromatography operations, enhance analytical methods, and provide technical support for a variety of chromatography instruments and workflows.
Responsibilities:
- Direct daily chromatography operations, ensuring efficient use and coordination of multiple instrument platforms.
- Drive improvements to current chromatography protocols and assist in the creation of innovative analytical techniques.
- Lead planning, coordination, and execution of method validation activities for chromatography processes.
- Establish and maintain quality control, workflow optimization, and preventive maintenance strategies for laboratory operations.
- Offer technical guidance and troubleshooting support to team members on instrumentation and analytical challenges.
- Interpret, review, and report analytical data, utilizing software tools such as MassHunter for data processing.
- Support the training and development of laboratory staff in chromatography best practices and instrumentation use.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure analytical objectives and project timelines are met.
Qualifications:
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in chromatographic analysis, including HPLC, GC, or related techniques.
- Proven ability to develop, optimize, and validate chromatography methods.
- Experience managing or coordinating analytical instrumentation clusters and supporting laboratory personnel.
- Familiarity with MassHunter or similar analytical data processing software.
- Background in one or more of the following environments is advantageous: contract R&D or CRO/CDMO labs, extractable & leachable or chemical characterization labs, polymer analysis labs, failure analysis or forensic labs, environmental labs, manufacturing QC labs, academic analytical labs with high throughput, or pharma/startup analytical labs.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
