Job Title: Associate Scientist Next Generation Sequencing

Work Location: Middlesex County, Massachusetts

Summary:

Seeking a motivated Associate Scientist to join a Genome Engineering team, focusing on developing and executing sequencing workflows to support advanced genetic medicine platforms. This role involves hands-on laboratory work, data analysis, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to drive next-generation genome engineering technologies.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform next-generation sequencing (NGS) workflows, including nucleic acid extraction, library preparation, sequencing, and quality control protocols.
  • Maintain and track comprehensive metadata to ensure data integrity across multiple projects and collaborators.
  • Analyze and interpret sequencing data, communicating results to guide project direction in collaborative settings.
  • Collaborate closely with protein engineering and immunology teams to meet project deadlines and deliverables.
  • Assist in developing and implementing new NGS workflows and technologies.
  • Keep detailed and accurate laboratory records in accordance with established protocols.
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and laboratory best practices to ensure high-quality results.
  • Support onboarding and training efforts for new NGS methodologies within the team.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in molecular biology or a related field with 3+ years of relevant industry or academic experience, or Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of experience.
  • Hands-on experience with NGS-based library preparation and sequencing techniques.
  • Proven ability to execute, interpret, and troubleshoot NGS workflows.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a collaborative approach to teamwork.
  • Experience with DNA/RNA quality control assessment tools such as Tapestation, Qubit, Nanodrop, and qPCR.
  • Familiarity with liquid handlers, Oxford Nanopore Technologies, and ddPCR is preferred.
  • Experience in genome-editing assessment is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, multitask, and maintain thorough written documentation.
