Job Title: Facilities Mechanic

Work Location: Plymouth / Barnstable County, Massachusetts

Summary:

The Facilities Mechanic is responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of building, grounds, and facility equipment, ensuring efficient and reliable operations of all systems and compliance with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and operate facility boiler systems in compliance with state regulations, including maintaining a 24/7 watch schedule as required.
  • Conduct regular inspections of mechanical and air handling rooms, identifying and addressing equipment issues promptly.
  • Perform scheduled and corrective maintenance on facility utilities, including purified water, clean steam, WFI, process gases, boilers, and air compressors.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with relevant supervisors, solicit quotations, and review contractor proposals for assigned responsibilities.
  • Troubleshoot and repair a variety of electro-mechanical equipment, including HVAC systems, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
  • Document all maintenance activities accurately in equipment log books and develop or revise maintenance documentation such as SOPs and checklists.
  • Ensure compliance with quality system procedures and regulatory guidelines related to facility equipment and daily operations.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the facilities supervisor or manager, working independently or as part of a team, and able to work extended hours as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of an Associate's Degree from a two-year college or technical trade school, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five or more years of field experience, including electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and repair; equivalent professional experience may substitute for education, especially in HVAC field service.
  • Knowledge of high-pressure boiler systems, DI and DPW water systems, and HVAC systems.
  • Working knowledge of cGMP, ISO 13485, and other relevant regulatory guidelines.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and perform tasks using computers, including MS Office applications.
  • Universal refrigeration license and experience in the life science industry are highly desirable.
  • Ability to obtain a Massachusetts Second Class Fireman’s License or Special License to Operate within 1 year is required.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills; ability to adapt to change and work efficiently both independently and in a team environment.
  • Physical ability to frequently stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift and carry up to 50 lbs, and work in environments with moderate noise, moving parts, and occasional exposure to chemicals and extreme temperatures.
