Precision CNC Setup Machinist
Job Title: Precision CNC Setup Machinist
Work Location: Wake County, NC
Summary:
Seeking a skilled machinist to set up, operate, and inspect tight-tolerance parts in an advanced manufacturing environment. This full-time position involves hands-on CNC machining, inspection, and continuous learning, with opportunities to expand into advanced programming and multi-axis work.
Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes, adapting to new machines and controllers as needed.
- Prepare tooling, stock, and work offsets, and verify setup conditions for safe and accurate machining.
- Run and prove out CNC programs, making careful adjustments and basic program edits under guidance.
- Machine tight-tolerance parts from stainless steel, titanium, aluminum, and other engineering materials.
- Perform first-piece and in-process inspections using manual and advanced inspection tools.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, GD&T, setup sheets, and CAD/CAM outputs.
- Support manual machining tasks and maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
- Assist with urgent projects requiring occasional paid overtime and take on additional technical tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of CNC machining experience required; 5+ years preferred.
- Proven ability to set up and operate CNC mills or lathes with limited supervision.
- Skilled in reading prints and understanding GD&T requirements.
- Experience making tight-tolerance metal parts and inspecting own work; preferred experience with stainless steel, titanium, and other challenging metals.
- Proficient with manual inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, indicators, etc.); experience with CMMs and vision systems is a plus.
- Ability to make careful offsets, tool adjustments, and basic troubleshooting decisions.
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, curiosity, and willingness to learn and grow.
- Must be a U.S. person (U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident) due to export control requirements.
