Job Title: Precision CNC Setup Machinist

Work Location: Wake County, NC

Summary:

Seeking a skilled machinist to set up, operate, and inspect tight-tolerance parts in an advanced manufacturing environment. This full-time position involves hands-on CNC machining, inspection, and continuous learning, with opportunities to expand into advanced programming and multi-axis work.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes, adapting to new machines and controllers as needed.
  • Prepare tooling, stock, and work offsets, and verify setup conditions for safe and accurate machining.
  • Run and prove out CNC programs, making careful adjustments and basic program edits under guidance.
  • Machine tight-tolerance parts from stainless steel, titanium, aluminum, and other engineering materials.
  • Perform first-piece and in-process inspections using manual and advanced inspection tools.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, GD&T, setup sheets, and CAD/CAM outputs.
  • Support manual machining tasks and maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
  • Assist with urgent projects requiring occasional paid overtime and take on additional technical tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of CNC machining experience required; 5+ years preferred.
  • Proven ability to set up and operate CNC mills or lathes with limited supervision.
  • Skilled in reading prints and understanding GD&T requirements.
  • Experience making tight-tolerance metal parts and inspecting own work; preferred experience with stainless steel, titanium, and other challenging metals.
  • Proficient with manual inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, indicators, etc.); experience with CMMs and vision systems is a plus.
  • Ability to make careful offsets, tool adjustments, and basic troubleshooting decisions.
  • Strong attention to detail, reliability, curiosity, and willingness to learn and grow.
  • Must be a U.S. person (U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident) due to export control requirements.
