Job Title: Plant Controller
Work Location: Bucks County, Pennsylvania
Summary:
Seeking an experienced Controller to lead and develop financial operations for a medical device manufacturing organization. This role is responsible for establishing scalable accounting processes, ensuring accurate financial reporting, supporting operational decision-making, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards and industry regulations. The position requires hands-on leadership in regulated manufacturing, inventory and cost accounting, and experience in growth-stage environments. The Controller will also support government contracting activities and ensure compliance with federal contract accounting and audit requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Develop and implement accounting policies, controls, and procedures tailored for a regulated manufacturing environment.
- Lead financial close processes and support planning, forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow management.
- Provide financial leadership for manufacturing operations, including inventory accounting, cost analysis, and supply chain financial performance.
- Partner with operations, engineering, and quality teams to improve gross margin, efficiency, and scalability, supporting new product introductions and production ramp-up.
- Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP, FDA regulations, and federal contracting requirements, supporting audit readiness and regulatory documentation.
- Serve as a strategic financial partner to executive leadership, providing insights on profitability, pricing, and investment decisions, and supporting fundraising and board-level reporting.
- Implement and optimize accounting systems and ERP tools, driving automation, scalability, and process improvements to support organizational growth and commercialization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience.
- Experience as a Controller or senior accounting leader in a manufacturing environment.
- Direct experience in medical device, life sciences, or another regulated industry.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting, inventory, and manufacturing finance.
- Experience supporting audits, investors, and executive leadership.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, early-stage environment with limited resources.
- CPA or equivalent professional certification preferred.
- Experience with FDA-regulated manufacturing environments preferred.
- Experience with ERP implementation or optimization preferred.
- Experience supporting venture-backed or high-growth companies preferred.
- Experience preparing board-level financial reporting preferred.
- Experience scaling finance operations through commercialization preferred.
- Experience with government contracts, grants, cooperative agreements, or federally funded programs preferred.
- Knowledge of federal contracting regulations, including FAR and cost accounting principles preferred.
- Experience working with organizations receiving funding from federal agencies preferred.
