CET Design Manager

Work Location: Suffolk County, New York

Summary:

The CET Design Manager leads a team of designers, ensuring high-quality project execution and client satisfaction. This role is responsible for maintaining design standards, providing technical guidance, and overseeing project management, team development, and process improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the design team, establishing standards, workflows, and quality control procedures to ensure exceptional project outcomes.
  • Review and approve design documents, provide creative and technical direction, and champion innovative workplace solutions aligned with industry trends.
  • Serve as the primary resource for design-related questions, conduct quality reviews, and ensure compliance with specifications and industry requirements.
  • Manage CET standards, libraries, templates, and provide software training and support to maintain team proficiency.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of furniture products and guide designers in product selection and specification strategies.
  • Oversee project schedules, deliverables, and resource allocation, coordinating multiple projects and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate design staff, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Develop and deliver training programs, implement process improvements, and support strategic initiatives and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • BFA, BA, or BS in interior design, architecture, or planning from an accredited college, or equivalent combination of education and industry experience.
  • 8-10 years of design experience in contract furniture, including experience working with cross-functional teams and mentoring others.
  • Proficiency in 2D/3D software, AutoCAD, CET Designer, and Microsoft Suite, with strong graphic presentation skills.
  • Understanding of building systems, codes, electrical, cabling, and ADA compliance as related to furniture.
  • Expertise in curating solutions from a broad product portfolio, including furniture systems, accessories, and custom pieces.
  • Innovative problem-solving skills and ability to address unique workplace design challenges.
  • Strong team player with excellent communication skills, reliability, integrity, and a positive attitude.
  • Self-starter who proactively supports the team and demonstrates teaching skills with patience and constructive feedback.
