Job Title: Bone Sciences Consultant

Work Location: Suffolk County, Massachusetts

Summary:

This consulting engagement seeks a senior-level expert to provide scientific leadership and strategic guidance for bone sciences programs focused on skeletal disease therapeutics. The role offers flexible, part-time involvement with opportunities for growth as the program expands.

Responsibilities:

  • Shape and direct the scientific vision for bone biology initiatives, including target identification and program prioritization.
  • Oversee the design and analysis of preclinical studies in skeletal disease, utilizing in vivo models and advanced biomarker strategies.
  • Act as a key scientific spokesperson with stakeholders, including investors and external partners, on bone biology topics.
  • Mentor and guide internal research teams in executing bone biology research projects.
  • Represent the organization’s scientific advancements at conferences and within the bone research community.
  • Advise on regulatory and translational strategies for skeletal indications, focusing on biomarker and endpoint selection.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure alignment of scientific and strategic objectives in bone sciences.
  • Adapt engagement scope and responsibilities as the program evolves, with potential for increased involvement over time.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in a relevant scientific discipline with significant expertise in bone biology, skeletal remodeling, or osteoporosis research.
  • Extensive knowledge of osteoblast and osteoclast biology, bone remodeling mechanisms, and preclinical bone disease models.
  • Proficiency in bone research methodologies such as micro CT, histomorphometry, and biomechanical testing.
  • Demonstrated scientific leadership through program ownership, mentorship, or collaborative industry experience.
  • Ability to translate laboratory science into strategic program direction and communicate effectively with non-scientific audiences.
  • Experience advising or leading within a biotech or related industry preferred; strong academic and translational leadership backgrounds also considered.
  • Comfortable operating at a strategic level and providing high-level scientific guidance.
  • Willingness to engage on a part-time, flexible basis with occasional travel as needed.
