Job Title: Maintenance Tech
Work Location: Carteret County, New Jersey
Summary:
Seeking a skilled Maintenance Tech to perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on a variety of industrial equipment and building systems. This role requires hands-on experience in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work, as well as the ability to maintain compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, calibrations, and repairs on machines, pumps, motors, and building systems, including HVAC units.
- Rebuild and thoroughly clean production equipment, ensuring all moving parts are lubricated and damaged components are reported and replaced as needed.
- Perform minor electrical troubleshooting and installations, such as outlets, switches, and lighting fixtures.
- Handle plumbing tasks including running copper lines, pipe threading, and installing or repairing plumbing fixtures.
- Utilize a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to enter, track, and close work orders and preventive maintenance activities.
- Ensure compliance with FDA, SQF, and OSHA regulations, maintaining a clean and orderly work area at all times.
- Accurately complete maintenance documentation, including forms and equipment logbooks, while supporting operational goals.
- Follow all safety rules and standard operating procedures, and perform additional maintenance tasks as assigned by supervisors or managers.
Qualifications:
- Vocational or technical schooling and/or training in maintenance crafts such as plumbing, mechanical, or electrical.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with effective verbal and written communication skills.
- 5+ years of maintenance experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair industrial equipment, including pumps, mixers, and motors.
- Experience with minor electrical troubleshooting and installations.
- Plumbing skills including copper pipe work, pipe threading, soldering, and use of Pro press tools.
- Knowledge of welding, HVAC systems, and lean principles is a plus.
- Advanced skills in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production equipment.
- Strong time management skills and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and interact effectively with various functional groups.
- Proficient with hand and power tools; able to lift up to 50 lbs and work overtime as required.
- Experience operating scissor lifts, forklifts, and floor cleaning equipment; ability to work in confined spaces as needed.
