Job Title: R&D Scientist

Work Location: Smith County, Texas

Summary:

Seeking an R&D Scientist to drive innovation and quality in molecular biology reagent development and manufacturing. This hands-on laboratory role focuses on infectious disease testing, assay development, and quality control in a regulated environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and optimize molecular biology experiments to develop novel PCR diagnostic assays and support assay innovation.
  • Perform daily PCR bench work, including reagent preparation, assay setup, amplification, and post-run data analysis.
  • Develop and optimize multiplex real-time PCR assays, conducting studies on primer/probe performance and reaction conditions.
  • Execute analytical verification and validation studies, ensuring compliance with internal quality systems and scientific protocols.
  • Document experimental procedures and results, analyze data, and interpret findings to inform scientific decisions.
  • Conduct quality control testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products using qPCR, dPCR, spectrophotometry, NGS, and electrophoresis.
  • Assist in troubleshooting assay performance, manufacturing processes, and unexpected experimental results, supporting root cause analysis.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to transfer research into production, maintain laboratory compliance, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or a related life sciences field.
  • Hands-on experience with PCR/qPCR and molecular biology techniques.
  • Experience in biotech manufacturing, reagent production, or quality control preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, documentation skills, and data analysis ability.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
