Facilities Manager Job Description

Summary:
The Facilities Manager oversees the reliability, safety, and operational readiness of all production equipment, utilities, electrical systems, and facility infrastructure. This hands-on leadership role requires significant industrial electrician experience and a commitment to continuous improvement and safety standards.
Responsibilities:
- Maximize equipment availability and operational readiness through proactive maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Diagnose and repair industrial electrical systems, motors, VFDs, control panels, conveyors, and production equipment.
- Develop, implement, and manage preventive maintenance programs for all facility systems.
- Oversee HVAC, plumbing, compressed air, lighting, and general facility infrastructure to ensure optimal performance.
- Maintain and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and provide training to staff on equipment and safety protocols.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, NEC, GMP, Lockout/Tagout, and all relevant safety regulations.
- Manage vendor relationships, maintenance budgets, inventory, and capital improvement projects.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean principles and foster a culture of safety, ownership, and operational excellence.
Qualifications:
- Minimum five (5) years of industrial maintenance/facilities experience with extensive industrial electrician background.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot industrial electrical systems and manufacturing equipment.
- Knowledge of 480V/240V/120V systems, PLC-controlled equipment, motor controls, VFDs, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
- Experience in regulated manufacturing environments preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Journeyman or Master Electrician license preferred.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
- CMRP certification and experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) preferred.
- PLC troubleshooting experience preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand, walk, climb ladders, and respond to emergency maintenance needs.
