In Vivo Contractor

Work Location: Middlesex County, Massachusetts

Summary:

Seeking a skilled professional to support in vivo rodent studies, ensuring high standards of animal care, data integrity, and sample management. This role requires hands-on expertise in animal handling, dosing, and tissue processing, as well as strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and execute in vivo rodent studies, including animal care, dosing via multiple routes, blood collection, and clinical observations.
  • Utilize specialized software for colony and study management, ensuring accurate tracking and organization of animal cohorts.
  • Efficiently harvest and process biological samples at study endpoints, following strict protocols for preservation and analysis readiness.
  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate study records in laboratory information management systems, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.
  • Prepare for studies by organizing materials, scheduling, and ensuring all protocols and supplies are in place.
  • Perform ex vivo tissue processing, including preparation for flow cytometry and RNA extraction, and collect samples for various analytical readouts.
  • Adhere to ethical standards and regulatory guidelines, maintaining compliance with all institutional and legal requirements.
  • Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to a dynamic and fast-paced research environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Pharmacology, Animal Science, or related field, with at least 3 years of relevant industry
  • Hands-on experience with rodent models, including animal care and dosing via IV, SC, IP, and ID routes.
  • Proficiency in Softmouse, Benchling, and GraphPad Prism; strong skills in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with ex vivo tissue processing, including preparation for flow cytometry and RNA extraction.
  • Ability to collect and process tissues for flow cytometry, qPCR, and histology.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, critical thinking, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; reliable, self-motivated, and a dedicated team player.
  • Commitment to animal welfare, ethical standards, and adherence to institutional and regulatory protocols.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new techniques and contribute to innovative projects.
