GC/MS Fragrance Analyst

Work Location: Morris County, New Jersey

Summary:

The GC/MS Fragrance Analyst is responsible for analyzing and reformulating consumer product fragrances, collaborating with perfumers, and utilizing analytical techniques to duplicate essential oil blends. This role involves hands-on work with GC/MS instrumentation, fragrance extraction, and maintaining quality standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and reformulate fragrances for consumer products, supporting research and duplication efforts.
  • Collaborate with perfumers to duplicate essential oil blends, ensuring olfactive and cost requirements are met.
  • Perform liquid-liquid and solid phase micro extractions of fragrance oils from finished products to create formulations.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and operate GC/MS instruments to ensure optimal performance.
  • Update and manage the MS library and database for fragrance analysis.
  • Participate in olfactive training to expand knowledge of fragrance ingredients and sensory evaluation.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 requirements and remain accountable for defined responsibilities within process flows.
  • Execute additional duties as assigned by management, contributing to team and individual goals.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with GC/MS instrumentation preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access required.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills essential.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Driven and able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of basic chemistry preferred.
  • Experience with enhanced data analysis programs preferred.
  • Understanding of ISO 9001 requirements and quality processes preferred.
