Job Title: Research Accounting Specialist

Summary:
The Research Accounting Specialist is responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial records, overseeing complex accounting activities, and supporting financial close processes. This role plays a key part in performing advanced reconciliations, preparing financial analyses, improving accounting processes, and providing guidance to accounting staff.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and execute month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
- Prepare and review journal entries for accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, revenue recognition, and other complex transactions.
- Conduct and review complex account reconciliations, investigating discrepancies and maintaining supporting schedules for key accounts.
- Analyze financial results, identify variances, and perform detailed trend and variance analyses to support management decisions.
- Manage and reconcile intercompany transactions and balances, coordinate settlements, and assist with cash management activities.
- Support audit requests by preparing schedules and documentation, ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal controls.
- Identify and implement process improvements, assist with ERP system enhancements, and develop accounting procedures and documentation.
- Participate in special projects and strategic finance initiatives, collaborating effectively across departments.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- CPA designation preferred.
- 5-8+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Experience in multi-entity or multi-location accounting environments preferred.
- Public accounting experience is a plus.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments.
