Job Title: Buyer/Planner
Providence, RISummary:
Seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Buyer/Planner to drive procurement, inventory, and logistics operations in a regulated manufacturing environment. This role is essential for ensuring efficient sourcing, inventory accuracy, and compliance with industry standards, while supporting production and customer needs.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement procurement strategies to align with production schedules and customer requirements.
- Negotiate with suppliers, manage relationships, and ensure quality, cost, and timely delivery of materials and services.
- Maintain supplier lists and ensure compliance with ISO 13485, FDA, and other regulatory standards.
- Oversee purchase order issuance and management, ensuring prompt delivery of components and raw materials.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate new suppliers and support material qualification processes.
- Monitor and control inventory levels, analyze usage trends, and manage ERP system parameters to prevent shortages or excess stock.
- Supervise shipping and receiving operations, ensuring accurate documentation, regulatory compliance, and efficient logistics for domestic and international shipments.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in procurement, inventory, and logistics processes to optimize cost, lead time, and operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Associates degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
- Professional certification (APICS, CPM, SPM, CSCP, or CPIM) preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in purchasing or supply chain roles within a manufacturing environment; medical device experience strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of ISO 13485, cGMP, and FDA/GMP regulations; familiarity with Class I/II/III medical devices and compliance requirements.
- Experience with ERP systems (such as Epicor, SAP, NetSuite, or similar).
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, make sound decisions, and handle confidential information.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills; service-oriented attitude with professionalism, poise, and diplomacy.
- Hands-on, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Experience managing cross-functional logistics and inventory operations, including scaling quick-turn or same-day fulfillment processes.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs for shipping/receiving tasks as needed.
- Capable of effective communication with stakeholders through various means.
- On-site, multi-site position in an office and manufacturing floor setting.
