Job Title: Machinist

Work Location: Providence County, RI

Summary:

Seeking a skilled Machinist with expertise in both manual and CNC machining to produce high-precision, tight-tolerance components from biocompatible materials. The role involves working in a regulated environment, adhering to quality and safety standards, and supporting the production of parts for critical applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain manual mills, lathes, and grinders for prototype and low-volume production of precision parts.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and material certifications to achieve extremely tight tolerances.
  • Conduct in-process inspections using precision measurement tools and document results according to quality plans.
  • Select, maintain, and recommend improvements for cutting tools, fixtures, and machine systems to optimize production.
  • Perform deburring, finishing, cleaning, and passivation of parts as required by process specifications.
  • Adhere to standard operating procedures, safety protocols, and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
  • Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot machining issues and implement process improvements.
  • Support compliance with regulatory and quality standards relevant to high-precision manufacturing environments.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of hands-on machining experience in a regulated environment such as medical or aerospace manufacturing.
  • Proficiency with manual mills, lathes, and high-precision machining equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with tight tolerance components and interpret technical drawings and GD&T.
  • Skilled in using micrometers, dial indicators, and other inspection tools for quality assurance.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds and perform manual tasks as needed.
  • Familiarity with ISO 13485, FDA QSR, and cleanroom protocols.
  • High school diploma or GED required; journeyman papers, NIMS certification, or trade-school diploma strongly preferred.
  • Experience programming or editing G-code, and familiarity with EDM, grinding, and other manual equipment is a plus.
  • Background in regulated industries and a continuous improvement mindset with exposure to lean manufacturing preferred.
