Job Title: Director of Nursing

Summary:

The Director of Nursing oversees clinical and administrative operations for nursing teams, including infusion and clinic nurses, nurse navigators, referral intake, and scheduling staff. This role ensures high-quality patient care, staff development, and compliance with clinical research protocols, while also providing hands-on support for infusion procedures and maintaining efficient workflows.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and supervise nursing teams, including infusion nurses, clinic nurses, nurse navigators, referral intake, and scheduling staff, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
• Provide direct clinical support for infusion procedures, including chemotherapy administration, and assist with vascular access for cancer patients as needed.
• Develop and implement training programs to ensure staff competency, ongoing education, and adherence to internal quality standards and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee compliance with standard operating procedures, participate in regular reviews, and update processes to enhance patient care and research operations.
• Serve as a nurse educator and preceptor for new clinical research staff, supporting onboarding and continuous learning for nurses and coordinators.
• Utilize process improvement techniques to identify and address workflow inefficiencies, supporting high-quality, compliant care delivery in clinical research settings.
• Review clinical research protocols for operational feasibility, manage study allocation among coordinators, and track key metrics related to patient referrals, visits, and enrollment.
• Collaborate with regulatory, quality, site development, pharmacy, and finance teams to ensure successful care delivery and compliance with federal, GCP, and regulatory standards.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing required; advanced degree in nursing or leadership preferred.
• Active RN license in good standing with the state.
• ONS/ONCC chemotherapy immunotherapy certificate course required.
• Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification preferred.
• Knowledge of GCP, GDPR, and federal clinical research regulations required in the US and Europe.
• Previous experience in oncology clinical research preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and clinical documentation systems.
• Ability to travel up to 5% of the time; must be able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven healthcare environment and collaborate closely with physicians and ancillary personnel.
