Maintenance Mechanic

Work Location: Bergen County, New Jersey

Summary:

Seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to perform maintenance, calibration, and repairs on manufacturing equipment, ensuring safety, productivity, and reliability in a regulated environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance, calibration, and repairs on a variety of manufacturing and facility equipment to ensure optimal operation and production continuity.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and calibration, with a focus on packaging and automated equipment lines, to minimize downtime and improve reliability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve recurring equipment issues, utilizing manuals, measuring, and testing instruments to identify root causes.
  • Disassemble, repair, and reassemble mechanical devices and instruments as needed to restore functionality.
  • Recommend improvements to safety and equipment operation procedures, including suggestions for equipment replacement when necessary.
  • Maintain compliance with cGMP standards and documentation requirements, especially when working in cleanroom environments.
  • Support general facility maintenance, including minor repairs such as spackling, plumbing, and painting, to ensure full plant functionality.
  • Document all work performed accurately in both written and electronic formats, ensuring clear communication and record-keeping.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a GED/high school diploma or Associate’s degree in a relevant field.
  • 5-7 years of experience as a mechanic in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Experience with blending, granulation, compression, and coating processes is desirable but not required.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions with minimal supervision and adhere to standard operational procedures.
  • Strong communication skills for both verbal and written reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify problems and take independent initiative to resolve them.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints, drawings, electrical schematics, and PLC boards for equipment construction and repair.
  • Experience preparing procedures and cGMP documentation.
  • Ability to work in a cleanroom environment and maintain strict compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, climb stairs, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
