Senior Research Associate, In Vitro Pharmacology
Work Location: Middlesex County, Massachusetts
Summary:
Seeking a motivated individual to support discovery, pharmacology, and preclinical development programs by executing and optimizing in vitro pharmacology assays. This bench-focused role involves generating high-quality quantitative data, troubleshooting, and developing biochemical and imaging-based assays to evaluate cytosolic delivery of various payloads. The position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to advance therapeutic programs from early research through candidate development.
Responsibilities:
- Design, execute, and optimize protein and antibody internalization assays using iPSC-derived and other mammalian cell models to support lead optimization.
- Develop and characterize reporter-based internalization approaches, including NanoBiT, fluorescent assays, and other reporter systems.
- Perform routine mammalian cell culture, including maintenance, plating, and treatment of cells.
- Analyze, summarize, and present experimental data, clearly communicating key findings and assay performance to the discovery team.
- Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records, ensuring compliance with protocols and regulations.
- Support the generation and maintenance of engineered cell lines and reporter systems for cellular assays.
- Assist with laboratory upkeep, including reagent inventory and general lab organization.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to generate high-quality data that advances therapeutic programs from early research through candidate development.
Qualifications:
- BS with 3+ years or MS with 1+ years of hands-on laboratory experience in biochemistry, molecular biology, immunology, bioengineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience in a biotech, pharma, or CRO setting.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with tissue culture and aseptic technique, including routine culture and maintenance.
- Experience with immunofluorescence, microscopy, or high-content imaging is desirable.
- Working knowledge of reporter-based cellular assays or other functional cell-based assay systems is desirable.
- Proficiency with GraphPad Prism and Excel for data analysis and figure generation; comfort with basic statistics.
- Disciplined electronic notebook practice and traceable record keeping; experience with Benchling or an equivalent ELN/LIMS.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work independently, prioritize across concurrent studies, and meet study timelines with minimal supervision.
